Kevin and I in Piazza del Duomo
|
It worked! When I woke up this morning I was feeling good and totally rejuvenated. We slept in till about 11, then made breakfast together. After, we got ready then headed to the Center. We started out doing pretty much the same thing we did the day before. We took the metro, then walked around the Duomo for a bit. When we went inside the Duomo yesterday, my camera died right when we walked in, so Kevin wanted to back so we could snap some pics! You're not allowed to have the flash on inside, so the pictures didn't turn out awesome, but we managed to get a few decent ones. Afterwards, we walked to the fresh food market, where everything looked amazing!! All the food always looks so unbelievably fresh, I really need to start going to the ones near me. However, I have heard that the food is definitely not cheaper than the food at the supermarkets. You're paying more for the freshness, which makes it less appealing. We also found a four story Ferrari store while we were wandering around and took a peak inside (Kevin's idea).

Castle Sforzesco |
So after we walked around the Center for a bit, I took him to The Sforzesco Castle, which is one of the most famous monuments in Milan. It has been demolished and rebuilt several times, and now its a super cool place to walk around. Once again, the weather was perfect, so we took our time strolling around the castle and its courtyards, etc. We tried to go in the museum inside the castle, but it was closed. Why any business is closed in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday is beyond my. But, it was actually better that it was closed because I ended up going to the museum with my class on a field trip the Tuesday he left. And it was super boring, so Kevin didn't miss anything at all. Afterwards, there was a little carnival going on outside the castle. And usually carnivals only have really lame rides, but this one actually had cool rides! Ones that went upside down and everything! I BEGGED Kevin to ride one with me, but he wouldn't. Not even one measly ride!! Not exactly his cup of tea :)

Arco de Pace |
After the castle, we walked through a pretty little park to get to the Arco della Pace, which translates to the Arc of Peace in English. Napoleon ordered it to be built as a celebratory arch for the peace reached in Europe in 1815. Then, we got lunch at Luini's.
I. Love. Luini's. It is amazing. It is a little hole in the wall shop, literally. There are no tables to even sit at, we sit on the curb outside while we eat. But it has the best calzones in the world. It's basically cheese and sauce, wrapped in bread that tastes like the Ozzy roles from Sweet Water. And it doesn't get much better than that. Seriously, it is absolutely amazing. I hyped it up so much to Kevin before he got here, so I had to take him. And he agreed, that it was utterly delicious. He vowed he could four of them, which would be an insane amount of food, but I wouldn't judge. It's that good :) Afterwards, we headed back home. We hung out for awhile, watched some TV, and relaxed before we went out that night. It's international night every Wednesday at Old Fashion Cafe, another thing I always talk to him about, so I was excited to show him what its all about. We don't have any clubs in Blacksburg, nowhere we can dance! So it was definitely a change of pace for him. It was the usual, 10E to get in, plus two drinks. It wasn't until we were here that we realized that Kevin was literally the tallest person on this continent while he was here. I kept making him go stand next to random people nonchalantly because it was hilarious how much taller he was than everyone.
