Day 10: Wednesday, January 26, 2011

The day started off same old…Italian for 3 hours, I was bored. Nothing new.  After class however, I attempted to meet Letitiza at work.  She sent me an email telling me which metro to take, and then gave me the name of the street she worked on.  Which is nice, however, a random street means nothing to me.  And it was the most crowded metro I have ever seen.  Every single person was smashed against another person…it was miserable.  And when I was almost at the stop, I got an email from Letitiza that said “By the way, the metros go on strike at 6:30, so make sure you have another way home.”  Naturally I didn’t, so I kind of freaked out a little, seeing as it was passed 6 already.  So when I finally got to the stop, I got off and walked around the piazza for a little, trying to find the street she told me!  When I found it, I walked down it…however, it was dark, and the street was sketch, I was by myself, and I was nervous about not being able to get back, and I definitely didn’t love the situation I was in.  When I found the address number she had given me, it was just a huge wooden door that was locked?  And I banged, but nobody answered?  So I left, and it was an epic waste of time.  And I got kind of lost on the way home, but luckily Kevin texted me the entire time, which made me feel better.

At night, we went to a club called Old Fashioned Café.  However, it was not a café in any way, shape, or form.  It was a dance club, and it was poppin’.  It was recommended by Jonathon on the first day, and Wednesday’s are international night!  So we went, and it was an absolute blast!

We started off at our house…typical.  The boys came over, with two other girls, Laruen and Melissa, who are also from Philly.  We drank some wine, took some shots, then headed out around 1:30am.  We started walking towards the main street, however, taxi’s in our neck of the woods are always hard to come by!  There was 9 of us, so we decided to do 3/3/3.  It took like 15 mins to find the first one…and Emily, Caitlin, and I took it.  Because the three of us ALWAYS wait for the last one, and let other people go first.  So we decided to take the first one this time!  However, the other people got there right after us, so I guess 2 more taxis came quickly for them, which was great!  We were kind of drunk, and trying to speak Italian to our cab driver.  He was teaching us some words, we were attempting to repeat them; it didn’t go well.

When we got there, the place had the same deal as Alcatrez had the other night…10E to get in, then 2 free drink tokens, which is AWESOME!  We all went in and got a drink right away, then started killin’ it on the dance floor.  After my first drink, this guy, with these crazy glasses came up to me and asked if he could buy me a drink.  Naturally I said yes.  So he bought me one.  Then he asked if I wanted to go to the VIP room with him; I said no because it sounded kind of sketchy initially.  However, he asked again, and this time he added…FREE DRINKS.  Now I was intrigued.  So I asked him if I could bring all my friends…haha like all 15 of us, and he said yes!  So we all headed to the other side of the bar, and went into VIP section.  And he got us all drinks, one after the other, and the night got fuzzy from there J I think he might have been famous, or maybe just really rich.  Because there was a camera guy following him around all night!  He was SO nice though to all of us; I’m pretty sure he was gay too!  We began to call him “glasses” because we couldn’t remember his name for the life of us.  So that spread like rapid fire and everyone started calling him that .  So we all danced all night long.  And while I do not remember leaving, or the cab ride home, or basically just the second half of the night, when we left, apparently some guy came up and gave me a bouquet of roses, which is AWESOME!  They look very pretty in our kitchen now!  There were also taxi’s lined up outside the club for once, which was so nice not having to hunt one down!
