Day 49: Sunday, March 6, 2011

Our view from the dock in San Marco Square
We had to be out of our hostel today by 10:00, so once again, it was an early, rough morning.  We packed our stuff, payed the outrageously expensive hostel bill, then left to do some last exploring.  The two of us payed 170E total to stay in that hostel for two nights...thats $240!  $240 for two nights in a dirty hostel that we had to share one shower and one toilet with 15 other people and were woken up both nights by loud, drunk fools.  It's amazing how much hostels are.  Anyways, we left our luggage at the hostel and went to grab some breakfast and walk around.  We hadn't bought our train tickets yet because we didn't want to be on a schedule.  So it was nice to wake up and not have to rush to the airport or train station.  Unfortunately, the crowds hadn't diminished at all.  So once again, we were shuffling through the little streets, one foot barely in front of the other to get everywhere.  We walked to San Marco and found an awesome seat on the edge of the dock where we sat for awhile.
Gondolas as far as I could see
After sitting at the dock for awhile with our toesies almost in the water, we decided to catch the 1:00 train back home.  We wanted to grab some lunch, get our stuff from the hostel, and navigate our way back to the train station in about 2 hours.  So we did just that.  After grabbing our bags from the hostel, we got a panini from a little hole in the wall shop, and found another awesome spot on a dock to eat some lunch and chill.

We managed to get back to the train station in plenty of time.  We attempted to buy a ticket for the 1:00 fast train, but somehow something got mixed up.  We ended up getting a ticket for the slow train, but then accidentally boarded the fast train?  And then got caught from the person that comes around and checks tickets...and then had to pay the difference, plus an 8E penalty fee.  It was basically one big misunderstanding.

Me very, very sick after Carnival
When we got home, we ran to the grocery store to grab some chicken and pasta to cook for dinner.  However, almost immediately upon getting back from the store, hell began.  I started to have a really bad stomach ache around 4:00.  I took some Tums hoping it would go away soon, but it didn't at all.  It actually started to get a lost worse.  To the point where I took a Percocet to get rid of the pain.  After about 2 hours, I wasn't getting any relief at all.  I was so, so uncomfortable.  I accidentally threw up all over myself, and after that, it was I couldn't stop throwing up all night.  Finally, I had no choice but to call Jonathan and get some help.  About an hour before he came over, around 9:00, I was finally able to get off the bathroom floor and get in bed.  I was still in way too much pain to fall asleep, but when Jonathan got here, he called a doctor to come over.  Everyone was so helpful the whole time I was sick.  Kevin sat in the bathroom with me the entire time and held my hair every time I got sick and rubbed my back the whole night.  After the doctor came and gave me a stomach relaxer via a shot in butt, Emily and Caitlin went to the pharmacy to fill the prescription he gave to me.  I took the medicine when they got back, but the doctor told me the sickness would last for 24 hours.  He said it must have just been some virus I picked up over the weekend.   I was up all night throwing up and being nauseous, and Kevin stayed up the entire time too <3
