This morning we all woke up and went to class at 10am, like we do every Monday through Thursday. On Tuesday mornings, we have a class that is called Italian Contemporary Society, which is essentially a History class, but in our case, it's like a history class for 3rd graders. Last week was our first class, and we went over the syllabus, and talked a little bit about how everyone liked Milan thus far. Today in class, we watched a movie. Next class we're going on a field trip, and the class after that we're watching another movie. Then, we have one more class until our mid-term. So, what exactly is going to be on our mid-term?? Beats me.

My new favorite movie...literally. |
The movie we watched today moved me to tears, literally. It was so good; I absolutely loved it. Even though the whole thing was in Italian and we had to read captions the entire time, it was still so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It was called La Vita e Bella (The Beautiful Life) and it was a mix between a love story and the a family suffering through the Holocaust, with a bit of added appropriate humor. It was actually a very popular movie in the United States when it was released in 1997; it won awards for Best Foreign Film and Best Actor. I highly suggest everyone watch it, it was fantastic.
Afterwards, we came home during our 1 hour lunch break, made some pasta, then headed back to campus for our Italian class. And I was bored out of my mind. Any class that lasts for three hours is just not for me. My attention span definitely isn't that long.

Yummy :) |
Before coming to Italy, we had to the option of signing up for a bunch of different optional excursions and classes, however I opted out because all of the prices were really expensive. There was a cooking class that was offered for $125; the instructor teaches you how to make authentic Italian dishes, and then after you cook the meals, you get to eat it, of course! Anyways, Caitlin signed up for the class, and told me that the instructor never takes roll and the atmosphere is very lax...so I decided to just go! I figured I could definitely use a good, FREE meal :) When I got there at 5:30, I was starving, which was a mistake because I was literally drooling over all the food as we were cooking it! First, we made tiramisu because it needed to chill for a bit before we could eat it for dessert. It's actually really easy to make. Then, they taught us how to make homemade pasta and three different kinds of pesto. And then we ate everything, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite :)
Tomorrow, I am missing my one class of the day! They made appointments for all of us throughout the week to receive our Permit to Stay. So tomorrow I have to go to the police station so I can officially become an Italian resident!
Oh yea...24 days till Kevin comes :)
